Norway isn’t exactly a prime Moto X destination but it has spawned one of the world’s greatest riders, Andre Villa. Now a resident of Torrevieja, Spain, where he has set up a sprawling freestyle Moto X park, the 31-year-old has helped push the sport forward both in terms of trick progression and obstacle innovation.
Unlike some guys who only do their training on a bike, he recognises the value of gym time and regularly works with a trainer to recover from injuries and build sport-specific strength and endurance. Here he talks about growing up in a country better suited to skiing than Moto X, his X Games Munich nightmare and why he sets off metal detectors at airports.
